It all began with knocking on doors
In May of 1972, Frances Schmidt was sent to Ramsey with a singular mission: find people willing to start a church in a growing community. For a year, she systematically knocked on doors, seeking to find those people willing to take a risk. On September 16, 1973, a small group met at Anoka Hennepin Technical College to worship for the first time together. Several months later, Lord of Life was born at 6139 157th Lane NW.
Late 1980s – God doing a new thing
By the end of the 80s, it was clear that God aspired Lord of Life to do a “new thing." Membership, worship attendance, and financial support were all taking a new trajectory upward. Creative worship coupled with dynamic kids and youth ministry were attracting increasing numbers of “unchurched” people.
1990s – The challenges of growth
Early in 1990, Lord of Life was busting at the seams, with no possibility for expansion. Miraculously, God provided a new site where Lord of Life is now located. In June 1992, the first services were held in the new facility. Rapid growth continued for several years following occupation of the new building and gave way to a new direction for Lord of Life.
Today – Here we grow again
In the past couple years, Lord of Life has entered a new season of growth and significant life change. We are more passionate than ever for reaching the world with the love of Jesus. Lord of Life’s highest calling is to be an inviting, radically transformed, Spirit-filled community. We invite you to join us!
